چکیده
Abstract Aim Oesophageal and gastric cancers are the eighth fifth most prevalent with a high degree of morbidity mortality. Oesophagogastric resections associated complications postoperatively. Complications following resection poorer hospital recovery, recurrence cancer, readmission to increased A study was carried out examine if there an association between post-operative bloods development complications. Method Data collected from theatre logbooks, Integrated Clinical Environment (ICE) clinical portal. Patients undergoing oesophagogastric for oesophageal cancer October 2010 November 2014 were included. organised using Clavien Dindo classification. analysed Student’ T test Chi-Squared test. P-value 0.05 classed as being statiscally significant. Results 94 patients met inclusion criteria this study. 55 (58.5%) underwent Oesophagectomy, 18 (19.1%) total gastrectomy 21 (22.3%) partial gastrectomy. significant seen higher Day 5 White Cell count (WCC) (p = 0.048), lower 2–5 Albumin (Day 2 p 0.038) C Reactive Protein (CRP) CRP p<0.001). Conclusions This suggests Albumin, WCC may be used predict postoperative in malignancy. Changes blood parameters present early day postoperatively can highlight who require closer monitoring, allowing earlier re-intervention required.

متن کاملBlood basopenia as an indicator of ovulation.
Direct basophil counts were done on capillary blood samples in thirteen normal young women, during the different phases of their menstrual cycles. Mean basophil counts during the follicular and progestational phases were 36.6/cumm and 39.3/cumm respectively. A significant midcycle fall in counts of 36% and a premenstrual fall of 22% were observed. These changes are probably due to migration of ...
متن کاملComplications following resection of the olecranon bursa.
We retrospectively reviewed 37 cases of resection of the olecranon bursa and noted wound healing problems in 10 (27%) and recurrence in 8 (22%). A lateral arm flap was necessary in one patient. Conservative treatment remains the treatment of choice for olecranon bursitis. Differentiation between septic and non-septic cases is challenging. The risk of wound healing problems and recurrence should...
متن کاملComplications following infundibular resection in Fallot's tetralogy.
Two patients are presented to demonstrate complications that may arise following infundibular resection in patients with the tetralogy of Fallot. An aneurysm of the infundibular chamber developed in one patient following removal of the infundibular stenosis. A left to right blood flow at the ventricular level occurred postoperatively in a second patient with marked cardiac enlargement and left ...
متن کاملMacular structure parameters as an automated indicator of paracentral scotoma in early glaucoma.
PURPOSE To evaluate the predictive ability of macular parameters defined in the significance map created using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) for paracentral visual field defects in early glaucoma. DESIGN Prospective comparative study. METHODS We studied 78 early-glaucomatous eyes of 78 patients, who underwent SD-OCT and standard automated perimetry 10-2. Macular laye...
